If you subscribe to one or more of Sky’s services, and live in the UK and Ireland, you automatically qualify for Sky VIP rewards. Sky VIP is a sweetener for Sky customers to stick around, and to reward loyal viewers.

These Sky VIP treats are available in different levels, depending on how long you’ve been a customer with the company, and cover everything from concert tickets to entry into prize drawers.

How do you get Sky VIP to send you gifts? Read on to find everything you need to know about Sky VIP.

What is Sky VIP?

Sky VIP is designed to reward customers with free shows, channels, and tickets. The basic idea is: the longer you’ve been a customer, the better the SKy VIP rewards will be.

Example rewards include free tickets to sporting events, such as the British Masters and the Premier League, preview screenings of new films and prize draws for Sky-related experiences, such as visiting the filming locations of Game of Thrones or tickets to gigs and football matches.

 The Sky VIP rewards ramp up for longer-serving customers and include new preview channel Sky Atlantic VIP, access to new Sky technology, including free set-up for Sky Fibre, free Sky Go Extra and free Sky Q set-up, plus priority customer service.

How does Sky VIP work?

The length of tenure, as Sky refers to it as, to qualify for Sky VIP is how long you have continuously been a Sky customer.

If you left and returned to the service, only the most recent tenure length counts. Day one of your tenure was the date the service was activated, not the date you first made contact with Sky. This is unlikely to push you out of a tier so is more of an FYI.

If you cancel all your Sky services but then return at a later stage, the length of time resets to zero and restarts. If you’re in debt on your account, you can’t join Sky VIP. If you go into debt after joining, your account will be restricted and you won’t be able to redeem any rewards.

As your tenure increases, more rewards will be unlocked automatically. It should be noted that some rewards require Sky TV. If you don’t have Sky TV you are not eligible for a replacement reward. Adding services does not impact your length of tenure.

Sky VIP membership tiers

In addition to the above, once you reach the next tier up you are automatically placed on the upgraded Sky VIP rewards scheme. Once this happens, all your new rewards will be available in the My Sky app and moving up tiers gives you access to all the rewards for the tier below as well as the tier you’ve been upgraded to.

How to get Sky VIP

Sky VIP can be accessed from the My Sky app and the app will automatically apply the correct tier. Customers can join Sky VIP by downloading the app, available on iOS and Android. More information about the services available on the app can be found in Sky’s FAQ.

Once set up, customers will be given their free Welcome Gift of a Sky Store movie.

The app will also tell them which membership tier they fall into. Buy & Keep launched last year and lets customers buy, watch and keep movies and TV shows. The films and shows are kept in the planner or in the Sky Store app to be watched again. The scheme also sends customers a DVD copy in the post.

It’s worth noting that any emails sent about Sky VIP, including confirmation of your tenure, what you’ve ordered and any tickets, prize draws and competition entries, will be sent to the primary Sky iD holder for your household. To check who that is, and to make sure it’s accurate, check your personal details in the My Sky app | Manage account | My details.

That doesn’t mean the primary Sky ID holder must be the one to use the Sky VIP reward; you can share the rewards with friends and family. To do so, when you book tickets to a Sky VIp event, simply put the name and details of the person(s) attending. All they need to do is take photographic ID along with the email or app booking confirmation. You don’t even need to go with them.

Below is a list of the Sky VIP Rewards in more detail.

All Sky VIP Members get:

• Access to prize draws for experiences including a trip to Iceland to see the filming locations for Game Of Thrones.
• Free tickets to sporting events including the Premier League and EFL, international and domestic cricket, Autumn Internationals, the NFL International Series and European Tour Golf, as well as exclusive Sky Sports events where customers will get VIP treatment and hospitality.
• Free tickets to exclusive cinema preview screenings across the country
• Free tickets to other events across the UK, which include being in the audience for Thronecast, Soccer AM and A League of Their Own; tickets to National Theatre Live screenings and tickets to Goodwood.

The higher tiers additionally get:

• Free Sky Go Extra, so customers can download and watch Sky shows wherever and whenever they want. Sky Go can be registered on four devices and watched concurrently on two. Devices include phones, tablets as well as the PS3, PS4 and Xbox 360. Content is deleted from any device 48 hours after viewing starts or no later than 30 days after download.
• Sky Atlantic VIP – a new channel where customers can watch some of Sky Atlantic’s new shows 24 hours before they’re on Sky Atlantic, including Sky Original Productions and HBO and Showtime series.
• Free fibre set-up to enjoy superfast Sky Fibre broadband

How to claim a Sky VIP Welcome Gift

To claim your Sky VIP Welcome Gift, go to skystore.com/redeem, enter the code sent to you when you signed up to the My Sky App and choose your film. All eligible titles will be shown at £0.00/€0.00.

The Sky VIP Welcome Gift can be redeemed until 31 August 2018. Once redeemed, you’ll have 12 months from the date of redemption to choose your film. To select a film at a later date, go to the Sky VIP Store on the day you decide to download it, choose your film and sign in. Your chosen movie will show as free, and you can click ‘Buy’.

Sky TV customers can watch their purchases on their TV, through your Sky box as long as their Sky Store account is linked to their Sky TV subscription. Sky Store is only available on newer Sky boxes and it requires a minimum download speed of at least 6 Mbps, for HD shows and films, or 2Mbps for SD. Sky is quick to point out that access to some of the services included in the scheme depend on you an adequate broadband internet connection, and/or 3G network.

How to link your Sky TV subscription to Sky Store

To link your Sky Store accounts to your Sky TV subscription go to ‘Link my account’ in Settings, follow the instructions on the screen (you’ll need your 12-digit Sky account number or the account number of the
bank you use to pay your Sky bill) and click ‘confirm’.

Once the two accounts are linked, your ‘My Sky Account’ section will show ‘View my Sky Account’.
